Chimpanzees take over Facebook!
As most of you already know, the popular social networking site, Facebook, has almost 40-million human users on it. For the first time, though, it will be the home to four chimpanzees, who will be adding a 'wild' touch to the site.
20 year old Albert along with his mates Jones, Sheena and Britney have all signed up to the popular website.
Scientists at the University of Oregon have been teaching the chimps to acquire language skills so that they can communicate with over 1000 symbols using a chimp-proof adapted touch screen computer. They will also be able to chat online with their other "ape" friends, upload pictures and send messages.
Previous studies have shown that chimpanzees and humans use the same region of their brain to communicate both verbally and non-verbally.
Even though this is a rather unique venture taken upon by the university, I don't we all want facebook to be filled with people's pet dogs and cats. Or do we???
