Google: Web is a trillion pages long

A recent blog post made by Google said that to the company, the web is about a trillion pages long. It also states that it is growing at a a rate of almost several billion pages everyday.

However, it is a safe bet to say that the web is in fact a lot longer than just a trillion pages. The reason for this is simple. Google does not index every one of those trillion pages on the web and there are bound to be many more that do not fall under Google's radar. A lot of pages have duplicate URLs and contain multiple pages of the same content. It is these types of pages that are not indexed.

To really understand how fast the internet has grown, check this out? In the year 1998, there were approximately 26 million pages and by the year 2000, the number had risen to 1 billion. Currently it is at over 1 trillion.
